The paintings in this series were inspired by themes from early Greek mytholgy, particularly those connected to the pre-hellenic settlements on Crete and the legendary king Minos, and the stories related by Homer. The shapes, patterns and colours reflect those which can still be seen on Crete, especially at Knossos.

The majority of the paintings are acrylic on canvas although a few of the smaller ones are ink drawings with acrylic washes either on canvas or on canvas board.

I have completed the first phase of the series but intend revisiting it from time to time to develop aspects of the Minoan which seem to have counterparts or reflections still to be seen in Europe today.
